European prices
Here at George.com we do not believe in charging you more than necessary for our wonderful products, however when trading in Europe we have to abide by the European VAT laws, which in short means we have to stop charging UK VAT and charge the relevant sales tax for the country that our products are being delivered to.
What does this mean for your order?
We want to ensure that as you shop the George website, the prices you see include the relevant local sales tax, so as long as you have chosen your shipping destination (you can see/amend this via the flag option on the George website), the prices that you see will automatically include the sales tax for your shipping destination. This is why some prices may look a bit strange.
For most of our European customers the biggest difference you will see will be in the prices for our baby and kids clothing, the UK enjoys 0% sales tax on these items, however in most European countries these have a standard rate of sales tax.
We often get asked why other British retailers do not do this?
At George we want to make our products as affordable as possible, so we do not inflate our prices to certain customers to subsidise others. All our George products are the same price across Europe excluding local sales tax, which will be calculated and added according to your shipping destination.
