Why we love this

At Morphy Richards we understand that you don't always have time to prepare nutritious meals from scratch and be there to monitor cooking. The 3.5L Sear and Stew takes this worry away.

You can sear any meat within the hob-proof cooking pot to retain flavour, add vegetables and stock into the same pot before leaving to slow cook whilst you are out for the day.

Morphy Richards 48701 3.5L Slow Cooker - Stainless Steel is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 125.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! Purchased after returning another well known brand as I was not impressed with the finish and quality of the other brand! I had a Morphy Richards one years ago and thought it was better to stick with what I know won't let me down! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fab, Light, Easy to Clean Great slower cooker, much lighter than my old model. Easy to clean easy to operate. Only problem for me is that I have an Induction hob and the 'sear' feature which allows you to brown meat, or soften veg before starting slow cooking only works on traditional gas or electric hobs. Would of liked an induction hob compatable option. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magnificent The sear feature adds loads more taste to the finished meal, and it is so light to handle, I went for the brushed model as it looks so classy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very adaptable My old slow cooker had a broken switch and I found this replacement which is exactly what I was looking for. The 2 features I like most are the fact you can use it on the hob first to brown meat and vegetables and then slow cook and it is so lightweight and easy to wash. really pleased with my purchase. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revelation! Received as a wedding gift, and it's transformed our lives (well, kind of). Experimenting with casseroles, it seems very versatile, and cooks chicken, in particular, beautifully. Brings out flavours you don't normally experience from regular cooking. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb...2nd one now bought in this range Ok...so this was the 2ndpurchase for this non stick pot model...I now have the red and silver (48701 and 48702 As I wanted to interchange the pans for different recipes for batch freezing for my freezer and prepping the meals for an elderly gentleman I know...I loved it from the word 'go' ..it's neat, tidy, not too big or small..cooks brilliantly well....washed up so easily (just the lid and pan) and the unit just needs a wipe over...that's it!! Cuts down on all those different saucepan accessories, washing board space..superb and highly recommended!! By the way...I have 5 MR Produvts now, 2 of these, 1 X digital version and 2 Intellichefs!! Think THAT.. says it all!! FAB priduct said..MR are onto a winner!! The Salvation Army have benefitted from me as I have given them my 'China crockpot' slow cookers away to them now....in the hope that someone will benefit. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cooking Gadget I love this slower cooker. It's brilliant that you can use the inner pot on the cooker for starting off your meals and then can transfer it into the slow cooker to carry on cooking.

Oven proof?

As you can seer on the hob, is this also suitable to put in the oven?

elements

Please can you advise if there are heating elements on the sides or if they are only at the bottom. I have read that there should be elements on the side as well as the bottom if I am wating to cook joints of meat instead of small chunks of meat as there may be a risk of food posioning when cooking large bits of meat. Thanks
