LEGO Technic - Porsche 911 GT3 RS - 42056 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 121.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing model I would start off by saying this thing is no where near a toy. The level of detail is amazing and the use of the bendy cables to give simulated curves is brilliant. This thing is solid with all the bit I would of liked to see on a high end build. Build over 2 days, literally couldn't put it down. Although I would suggest a large area for setting the pieces out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome build! This is my 8th Technic build and by far the most interesting. Looking forward to more of the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best set i have ever built Building a massive technic model isn't always fun, I mean, pushing a cross axel through multiple technic beams isn't all that fun and sometimes they're not properly aligned so you end up either having blisters or leaving a mark on your table. That said, this was a very different experience and the end result is worth the blisters. The first thing different is the presentation. The box is very different to previous branded "technic" sets, like the 8145 in 2007 (Ferrari 599 GTB) or the 8461 from 2002 (BMW-Williams FW24 F1), in that the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has artwork inside the box that shows the 911's evolution, and instead of just having a bunch of plastic bags, the plastic bags are split into different smaller boxes. So you open the box and you see 5 other boxes and the instruction manual that is high quality, 500 pages thick, and looks great on your coffee table (I had hoped the LEGO would make the instruction manual a hardcover but this will do). The box on the right side houses the exclusive GT3 RS wheels. Underneath the instruction manual is box #1, which has a picture of an engine on it; box #2 has a picture of a racing bucket seat; box #3 has a picture of the hood/bonnet; box #4 has a picture of the rear wing/spoiler. But that's not all, the whole building process has been modelled after the Porsche assembly line, so you start with the chassis, engine, gearbox, which is in box #1, then you move onto the interior and roll cage, then the body panels and the wheels. While you build, you can read on the development and building process of the real life GT3 RS. Apart from the above, this is like any other technic set, but if you love cars and or lego, this is a must have experience. I won't recommend any other sets because nothing else in the current LEGO lineup comes close. I would have given it 5 stars for play experience except I got blisters and this isn't really a set you harvest parts from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GT3 RS Amazing set and great fun to build. The presentation box and book are great with excellent background info. Boxes 1&2 are the hardest as it is so easy to use the wrong piece by mistake (I did that a couple of times)!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Probably the best Lego model around The sequential gearbox and detailed suspension makes this model a must for any avid technic builder. Funnily enough I saw the exact car this was based on (same colour even) driving through Brisbane a few weeks after building it. It is a great replica of the original.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best Lego sets ever. I have probably built over a 1000 sets over my lifetime, this set was one of the most enjoyable builds ever! From the moment you see the box you know you are in for something special, Its a premium product, the box is beautiful, open the box it's gorgeous, individual numbered boxes and 4 stunning wheels and a lavish manual. The build from start to finish was a real joy, it took me about 14hrs in total, but i really took my time, studied the building techniques, and savoured every minute. The gearbox and overall design are incredible. This will take pride of place in my collection for many years. I really hope that Lego do more of these type of sets, they are expensive, but well worth the money. I cannot recommend this set highly enough, if you get one set this year, get this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Porsche to build. What a lovely porsche to build. Very well designed and it took me just under 3 days to complete. There are so many detailed parts that work and the boot, doors, spoiler all open to reveal the moving parts. This kit comes in a nice presentation box, with a thick manual to read about the Porsche and then the buiding starts. It is slightly heavy to pick up once built so care is needed, come’s with nice wheels and a sticker sheet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An overall excellent kit I am a long time builder of Technic kits going back to the Technic Space Shuttle and could not wait to snag up this Porsche as soon as I found out about it. Overall the building experience was great and I liked the way that Lego chose to box this kit in four individual boxes and also included a great manual. Furthermore, I was glad to have a kit that was not finished before the fun wore out as smaller kits tend to get completed long before I wish they were. Many of the merits of this have been covered in detail and I will not go into them, but I did want to bring something that bothered me to Lego's attention. Many of the pieces tend to not have the finished appearance that I have come to enjoy from Lego products over the years. I do not recall a kit that had as many issues with sink marks/ejector marks and other various astetic issues (I understand that some of these are clearly defined and are more or less a part of the peice but this is not what I am referring to). On parts that are not exposed from the outside this is not as big of a deal, but what troubled me was the marks on parts that are plainly visible on the completed kit and even more so the differences in color on the orange parts. The photos I have attached show as best as I can with my cell phone the differences in color between parts on the hood as well as the roof (the center piece of the roof is more so due to lighting but in my second photo the far right piece is clearly a different color). I am a scale modeler, so I am likely more in tune to these things than the average builder, but for how great this kit is and for the expense of this kit I expected at the very least for the orange to match, as this is a very loud color (as it should be) and draws attention to the kit from afar. Overall I love this kit and would recommend it to any builder who wants a challenge and a project that won't end after only a couple hours of assembly. Great job Lego, and I hope to see more kits of this caliber in the future because I will be a guaranteed customer. But please pay a little more attention to quality control in your molding processes. Thank you.
