Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best Hey everyone! Would recommend this product a five out of five star rating in all rounded range both build wise and operational wise after I completed this set.It is very simple to build and complete, for years now I’ve collected, loved and adored what technic have produced and this by far is the biggest, complexed and overwhelming with parts by far! Totally loved how the instructions were layered out in sections, totally adored from the start, middle to the finish of the build and I couldn’t ask for a better design.absolutely stunning...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok build but... I like all the mechanisms and all the gears. When I was on the page 192 and I noticed that one of the 6089119 elements was missing. That specific element is one of the things I don't have at my disposal. The part is quite rare and that makes my building experiance bad. For the amount of money you pay, you should get all pieces + some extra pieces.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been better.. Waited for a few months to get this set. Was so excited when I finally got it. I was about the build the largest Technic set made to date! Has a huge manual. Nicely bound and excellent printing. Stickers were die cut very well and looked first rate. Bags were numbered according to build stage: Bag 1 builds the dump truck and has the material for play. Bag 2 builds the superstructure frame. Bag 3 builds the tracks. Bag 4 builds the supports. Bag 5 builds the discharge conveyor. Bag 6 builds the digging wheel and conveyor. Bag 7 builds the body. Bag 8 builds the accessories. The dump truck is quite a piece unto itself. It made for a nice warm up. Nice color, HOG steering, manual dump feature. Nice detailing. Pretty good scaling compared to the Excavator. Now it's time for the bread and butter. 490 pages of instruction to build this beast. After a couple of days I was done. Nothing too difficult. Just a few instances of monotonous building, mainly putting together 204 track shoes for the vehicle tracks and conveyor belts. Once built it is pretty impressive. And then it's time to power it up. This is where the disappointment comes in. For the largest Technic set, they chose to use only 1 XL motor. And this motor works for a bit over 100 gears. The functions are switched using levers and synchros. Because of the one motor, you can only either jave it move back and forst via the tracks, or rotate, and when rotating, the bucket wheel has to turn, but the bucket won't turn with the tracks engaged. After having the set build for a few months, it won't even really work now. Something has jambed up so it just spins the clutch. I think with a couple of motors, this could have been fixed. The functionality of the set is just substandard. The set displays very well, but the playability is in question. I think in a few years if they redesign and reissue this unit, hopefully they address the immense overuse of the single motor. Overall I like the set, but there is just too much going on for one motor. It kind of disappoints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great but challenging build So I got this for my birthday and was extremely surprised at the size of the box. Great value for money and an amazing part doner - 700+ black pins. Definitely recommending this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing! The wow factor is huge! I thoroughly enjoyed building this set, its a good test of patience and organisation as you build one structure after another. There are a few problems though, one motor to power the entire system is only just enough if it ran smoothly, and even though I made sure the gears were free running as I built, it still had trouble running smoothly afterwards. Unfortunately, making the large yellow gear wheel in sections has meant the teeth don't match up at the join. The 'base tan' of the teeth at that join doesnt match the rest of the gear, causing it to skip at that point. It ran with the lightest of persuasion, just the weight of my finger did it. The only other issue I had was that the tower leans forwards a lot, as you can see in the picture. I've checked the assembly, but can see nothing wrong, is there something that I've missed? Other than those issues, it's impressive. Truly a feat of Lego engineering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mine is eh When I go to actually use it it goes very slow and I hoped that with a xl motor it would go a little faster but other wises its a great set and its worth the money. I've been working with legos since I was 6 and this set was one of the biggest sets I've ever built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, this is a great one! TLDR? To summarize, this is the most fun and challenging technic build I have ever done. The scale of the set is just amazing. Right out of the gate the dump truck is a fun build by itself. The working steering and latching dump mechanism make it a great addition to the set. Then you start in on the crawler base. The mechanisms were surprisingly complex, as there are four mechanical functions in the base alone. Here you have the track drive, the superstructure rotation, the output chute rotation and the output chute conveyor drive. There is even a transmission selector here to engage auto rotation of the output chute. Next we build the digging arm with the bucket wheel, main conveyor and tilt mechanism, and the power section with the battery pack, motor and transmission. Finally we pull them all together and add the adornments. By the time it is completed, it is a mechanical marvel. The movement is slow and realistic, and thoughtful design prevents it form damaging itself if it gets bound up. There are a few ares for improvement. First, there is a single motor for the entire model, and it can only power some functions at the same time. You can either engage the tread drive, or the bucket wheel and rotation functions, not both at the same time. Even in crawler drive mode, it drives both treads at the same time with no differential or steering, so it can only travel in a straight line. Upgrade #1, add a differential, or another pair of motors to enable skid-steering. The next issue is the output chute auto rotation. This is selected with a technic shift mechanism, which is cool, but they have a lot of lash (almost 90 degrees) so there can be alot of play in the position of the output shaft. Upgrade #2, find a better coupling for the output chute rotation to eliminate the lash. And while we are at it (Upgrade #3) we should also make the output chute angle adjustable as well. It is just a bit too high for the included dump truck, and parts have a tendency to bounce out. And finally, the model is adorned with lots of simulated lights. These are just begging for a light kit Upgrade (#4). I have no doubt this set will provide me with endless hours of enjoyment making upgrades and modifications. And in the unlikely event I ever get tired of that, the shear volume and variety of parts in this kit are amazing fodder for the grandest of technics machines!. Overall I give this set 5 bricks.
