LEGO Star Wars Kylo Ren's TIE Fighter - 75179 is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kylo Ren's Silencer Where to start with the Silencer? The build, wow, a very nice construction. The wings are attached securely and I don't think there is much on this TIE that is likely to fall off during play, even those long thin wings seem strong without being as thick as tree trunks. I like the stretched out and somewhat flattened cockpit and body that reminds you of Vader's TIE Advanced X1. The wings are definitely inspired by the TIE Interceptor and give this a sleek, fast and menacing look. Although the wings are a rather tedious repetative build the rest is rather good and to make it even better. Mini figures make this set one of the best with the new Kylo Ren, Special Forces TIE pilot, First Order stormtrooper and BB-9E. Now if LEGO could make some more BB units (First Order or Resistance) they'd probably sell a few more sets. Hint, hint! We've got BB-8 and BB-9E but there must be some more out there in the SW universe? Playability? Plenty of that here with a durable starfighter, the flick fire missiles (which in the past I've not been a fan of) are well embedded in the build and the triggers are nicely built in, something that LEGO is getting better at and I applaude LEGO for it, long may that continue. Another good thing about this set, very few stickers, two I think. A well designed set once more from LEGO, well done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing model At first, I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy this set. After buying it anyways and building it, my mind is thoroughly changed. It is a very unique and striking ship. The build and set: True, the build is somewhat repetitive, but it is such an interesting build that it doesn't feel that way. Some cool and surprising techniques are used, especially for attaching the wings, and it made the build very enjoyable. And this is a solid set. It almost feels overbuilt, which is a good thing. It doesn't feel flimsy at all; everything is very well secured to make sure that it will not fall apart. Once completed, the set is quite imposing. Much larger than I thought, which is a good thing, and it has a nice weight too. Very swoosh-able!! And the detailing is just right. It just looks plain awesome. As a side note, lego has been doing a great job of building solid sets recently. Especially with these The Last Jedi sets, they seem so well designed and built, and I really appreciate that. I can enjoy playing with them and nothing is going to fall off or apart. Minifigs: Kylo Ren is great. His new outfit looks good, and the lightsaber is really cool. Stormtrooper. Can't have too many of these guys. BB-9e is cool too. Always nice to have a cool droid. TIE pilot is a home run! This is one of the coolest looking figs in awhile, and the printing is just great! Complaint: Only real complaint is that there is no controls in the cockpit. A viewscreen or joystick would have been really nice. But not really a big deal, you can always add that in yourself. Overall, this is a great set. It definitely merits a place in your collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Cool This thing looks amazing once completed and I like the new prints on the new Kylo Ren minifig. This set looks like a TIE Inceptor but more sleek and cooler. I like the addition of the TIE Special Forces Pilot, as evident by the red stripes on the helmet, and I personally swap out Kylo Ren with him sometimes. Overall a cool set, but the only nitpick I have is the price, but it could be worse.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's the little things... First of all, this is a very cool looking ship. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and build sets with my elementary school-aged daughters all the time. Even though they gravitate toward the Friends and Disney Princess lines, I know I have a cool Star Wars model when they ooh and aah over it. And they did! My biggest issue with this purchase is a small but irritating detail--where is Kylo Ren's helmet?! It might seem insignificant but I purchase these models for the mini figures as much as the ships themselves. And yes, if I had looked at the box more clearly I would have seen it (or not seen it, I suppose). But, I have not liked the previous Kylo Ren kits enough to purchase them, so I was excited to add him to my growing line up of Sith Lords. But the helmet is such a key piece! Maybe he doesn't wear it in the upcoming movie, but it seemed, honestly, really cheap to not include it. And in fact, had I noticed it, probably wouldn't have bought it. Seems a shame to be disappointed by something that I feel should have been a no-brainer to include. This has also happened with Sabine Wren, where her awesome Mandolorian helmet is in one set, and not the other. Seems like a cheap move. All that said, again, the ship is amazing, we had fun building it as always, I'd just like LEGO to be a little more conscious of this sort of thing. I was disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Spaceship Kylo Ren's new Tie Fighter the "Silencer" is a really cool set. It's very large stance yet overall light weight makes this a great item for play with kids. It's also a great set for collectors to display.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Member of the Tie Family This is a pretty decent set. The build is fairly easy and quick although a tad repetitive. The finished product looks great and sleek, as well as being solid and durable. There are only two stickers to apply on the whole set (easy ones too) and the rest are printed pieces. As far as playability goes there is really only one feature, the spring firing missiles, which are hidden well and the launching levers blend seemlessly into the design of the ship. The ship is also on the lighter side in weight so it's easy to "swoosh" around. The minifigures, I would have to say, are a must have for a Star Wars fan. The new Kylo Ren with the scar is great and he has a new torso print as well. The elite tie pilot is a nice variation on the regular one and would go well with the special forces Tie Fighter from The Force Awakens line-up. BB-9E is a nice variation (and break) from BB-8 and this set is the cheaper of the two that he's in. There are a couple complaints I have about this set. One is that the cockpit interior has no detail to it whatsoever. There are no control panels or even the little antenna pieces and I think there is plenty of room for either of those. Also, while one doesn't usually look at the back of a set, I think the blue technic pegs that show through ruin the overall black and gray finished look. Covering them would be extremely simple and I am not sure why it was not done. Overall, a very nice set to add to any collection. It looks nice and sleek and is a bit bigger than I thought it was going to be. A good addition to the Tie Fighter family, and let's hope that this time Kylo Ren's ship is still accurate after the movie releases!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TIE Silencer This TIE Fighter is obviously inspired by Darth Vader's TIE Advanced and the TIE Interceptor. It's real name is the TIE Silencer and Kylo Ren is an expert pilot thanks to the skills passed down from his father. The build is repetitive but that's the same for any TIE Fighter. However the techniques used are interesting and the finished model is very sturdy. Official images of this ship have been released and the movie accuracy appears very good. The scale of the model has been forsaken for detail - it is completely out of proportion with a Special Forces TIE fighter. The minifigures are incredible! Kylo Ren comes with a new head-piece showing his scar and it's dual sided - angry or very angry. The new fabric cape resembles the new one he has in the film. However I preferred a metallic grey lightsaber hilt rather than a black one. The TIE pilot's helmet finally has red stripes which wasn't included in the Special Forces TIE. BB-9E is a new First Order astromech and printed with a lot of detail. FAN FACT: On set BB-9E was referred to as 'Bee Bee Hate'. The First Order Stormtrooper completes the selection nicely. I think this is an amazing set and definitely one of the best from The Last Jedi range. It's price is quite high but it's still an amazing model. If you're going to start with one of The Last Jedi sets, then this is the one to start with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice, solid set. Bit dull. Finished set looks good but the build is fairly repetitive and straightforward. Once finished, the set itself doesn't 'do' much with limited amount of moving parts or sections. Minifigures are great though and it does look pretty cool. Would suit a younger or relatively new builder looking to move up from the £20 -£30 level sets.
