Rated 4 out of 5 by from LEGO Brings Another Great Scene! Arguably the best scene of the movie, this set does the scene justice. The minifigures are cool, and were the biggest selling point for me with the set. The platform has a couple cool functions, with the minifig catapult to the opening laser doors. In my opinion, the platform could be a bit larger, cuz it's cramped in with a limited platform for minifigs to move around. Still, this is a set I think kids will enjoy playing with, and being that I'm not a kid, I still recommend this set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from At last! This set represents my favorite scene from episode 1 almost perfectly. The figs are great but maul's smile is out of place. I would not mind if price was raised if they had put at least half of the chamber's wall and made purification light taller. This is a great set for the value. I had never gotten Qui-Gon before so that was nice. I highly recommend this set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Model of a Great Scene This model beautifully captures one of my most memorable Star Wars scenes (old salts hold off your prequel hate, I grew up with TPM!) The minifigs are all wonderful designs. Darth Maul in particular is a figure I've always wanted to own and I'm really happy with how he's turned out. There is also a noticeable increase in the quality of lightsaber blades from those in my older sets; the colours are deeper and cleaner. Capes would have been nice, but they weren't worn in the scene so I can see why they are omitted here. The set itself is a wonderful little display piece with some great play features. My one criticism is that the circular section and bridge are a bit too small. There isn't a great deal of room for the figures and their deployed lightsabers, and while Obi-Wan will occasionally spring heroically from the hole it's a bit hit-and-miss as to whether he gets snagged by his lightsaber blade or not! These are however minor complaints and I'm really pleased that I bought this set. Good value for money, good build, good figs, good set!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Menace! This set is brilliant and was really fun to build. It is very detailed and included one large sticker. This only added to the realism of the model and the inclusion of three characters is very generous. Overall, I recommend this set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Set! This is a good set! It's definitely a play set though rather than a display one. That can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you talk to. In my opinion, I'm fine with it being more for play since the scene in the movie was very action packed with a lot of things they could make into play features, which they did. The features include the blast shields and catapult function which launches Obi-Wan out of the pit. The pit of course doesn't launch him perfectly, but it's still fun. And the laser shields open forwards which can make it a little cramped, but it's a small complaint which doesn't matter too much. I love that we get all 3 minifigs from the scene for a cheap price! Which is another reason I approve of it being a play set rather than a display one, if they made a big model out of it, it would have been way more expensive and then we couldn't get the figs for a cheaper price. The double sided faces only add to the set, I love Qui-Gon's. Maul's smile is ok, he smiles in like only one of the scenes, I wish he had a serious expression like the older figs of him. I wish Lego would stop giving Obi-Wan orange hair though, I can understand giving him that hair for episode 2 and 3, since it matches better, but in episode 1 his hair was definitely just brown. A good choice for kids and adults, buy this set!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Duel for Maul Bought this more for Darth Maul than the lego set and to be honest I wasn't overly impressed with the set, it was surprisingly basic and didn't seem to represent the scene from Star Wars that it was based on. That said, the minifigures more than make up for the basic set and I was impressed with the design of Maul!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 'Train the boy.' It's shocking to think that this lightsaber battle has never been attempted in Lego before, even though it introduced audiences to a brand new kind of lightsaber. These small location sets are good value for money and offer a quick, easy build that's great for display or play. It's an interesting build with some interesting techniques used to create the shape. The play features are fun - the 'laser' gate swings open and shut (like it turns on and off in the film) and Obi Wan can 'leap' out of the shaft when you hit the catapult lever. The minifigures are possibly the best part of this set. Darth Maul is a standout with superb printing on his robes and face. Fans will be pleased to know that his head piece has 9 horns just as he has in the film. Qui-Gon Jinn is movie accurate and again has detailed printing. Obi Wan Kenobi isn't much different from previous versions but is good minifigure. This is a great set for either re-enacting the scenes from The Phantom Menace or as a Prequels display piece. Either way locations are rare in Lego form and this set captures it really well.
