LEGO Star Wars - Desert Skiff Escape - 75174 is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little set The desert skiff itself looks great – I love the railings, both the stiff and the bendable ones. The gangplank is retractable and has to exposed studs to stand a minifigure on. There's a hidden gun in the box on the deck, and a control station. There's some clear pieces included to raise the skiff a tiny bit. The Sarlacc looks and works very well. It looks frightening even in Lego! The minifigures are fantastic, as usual. I love Boba Fett, he's my favourite minifigure of all times and I appreciate that he looks slightly different to the Carbon Freezing Chamber, since his appearance did change between the two films. Pros: - Great minifigures - Very fun to build - Looks fantastic - Fun play features Cons: - Should have included more clear pieces to lift the skiff higher I'd recommend this set to any Star Wars Lego fans!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible set This set looks good that's about it,where you store the rover is wasted space which could be used for interior detail, the window is curved,Rowan needs a second face. To be honest the Battle on Takodana would have been a much more worthwhile use of 110NZD. To be honest the only thing I can recommend is the figures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great This is a great scene, and overall good value for money for what is included. The minifigures are also great, and displayed alongside Jabba's Barge is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing exclusive minifigs, and nice build. Really like the exclusives minifigs, wich are: Han Solo (only the hair is different fro Carbon Freezing Chamber), Skiff Guard and Boba Fett (yes, he is exclusive, different printing). The only "problem" in this set is that the technic pices in the Sarlacc is not very well hidden. Overall, great set with awesome minifigures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Collectible The Desert Skiff is a set I've missed in the past, but it's a very iconic set, based on an early scene from Episode VI. The set: The build was short and enjoyable. The skiff itself was simple, resulting in a sturdy vehicle with adjustable fins, a weapons compartment, and a collapsible plank. The Sarlaac was a little more tricky. It looks great, but the mechanism used to open/close the mouth (a great feature) is unstable: it results in the closed mouth always hanging lopsided. The characters: first of all, Boba Fett is awesome. Very accurate edition of the bounty hunter, although arm printing would always be a nice extra. ;) Han has a nice hair piece in comparison to the last edition of the Desert Skiff set, and Chewbacca is, of course, in the newest (and very accurate) version as well. The guard is a nice addition. I would have preferred another Lando Calrissian guard like the old set, but his absence is understandable (esp. since he's in the A-wing set). Overall, the Desert Skiff is a collectible that will look nice on the shelf, work well for play (esp. the Sarlaac's "eating" mechanism), and provided fans with a number of exciting and updated characters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 'I can see a lot better now!' There hasn't been a desert skiff since the last release of Jabba's sail barge and although the skiff itself has improved immensely I think the set is lacking overall. The skiff's curves and angles have been recreated very well with an accurate colour scheme that goes well with the older sail barge. The use of transparent pieces underneath to make it appear hovering works nicely as it has done in previous sets. The retractable plank is an added bonus and is a feature that works smoothly, whilst adding a fun play element. The sarlacc pit is a bit of a disappointment. The concept is great and the finished model is decent but the jaws only remain open when it's 'arm' is pulled upwards. I think the mechanism is quite constricting, especially from a display point of view. It would have been more fun if the 'arms' could have moved along with the mouth. Also the use of light grey bricks just don't work and detract from the sarlacc. I think some more minifigures would have been fair. I think fans would prefer a disguised Lando or more of Jabba's guards. However that said this is the cheapest set at the moment in which you get Han with his new hair-piece that is far more scoundrel and roguish than the old one. Chewie is detailed and printed wonderfully. The weequay guard has excellent printing and his axe is an accurate weapon. Boba Fett is awesome with a minifigure based on his Return of the Jedi costume (which is very different from The Empire Strikes Back costume), with a green cape, and a different variation of colours on the armour. All together this is a fun set but more minifigures would have been appreciated at this price point and the sarlacc pit isn't perfect. However if you want a new hairdo Han or an Episode VI Boba Fett then this is a must have!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for Return of the Jedi Fans I picked up the Desert Skiff Escape in anticipation that someday I'll get my hands on a Jabba's Sail Barge. With that being said, it's an easy build and the inclusion of the Pit of Sarlacc is a nice add.
