LEGO Star Wars - Desert Skiff Escape - 75174 is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty cool little thing... I got this thinking, "I'll build it, then display it for a while then demolish it as the parts are cool." However, after building it, and looking at the length of the main build is quite significant, with the use of long and large plates for the floor. I may keep this assembled for a while longer than I planned to. The play functions are limited, as this craft couldn't do very much in universe, apart from carry prisoners. I like the fact that LEGO didn't stick some stud shooters or a spring-loaded shooter on this thing, as it would look out of place. The ramp is a nice feature, that doesn't extend out too far, and is tiled to make it moved more smoothly, and also have 2 studs on the end for a minifig to stand on. The only downside to this set is the Sarlac pit, as it is less like a pit and more like a hill. I would have liked to have seen the outside wall built up a bit more. The opening mouth works nicely, however gravity always wants to pull it downwards, so with a steady hand, you can get the mouth pieces level with each other. The minifigs are the highlight of the set, with Boba Fett, with some very nice printing, including a back print, even though that is covered by the jump pack. Although, I want Boba Fett, not an angry clone... Han Solo is another draw for this set as he has his new hair mould in a small set. The other minifigs are a guard who has nice prints and Chewie, who is exactly the same as the previous version. All in all, a great set, definatley worth the purchase. Now all we have to do is wait and see if they make a new version of Jabba's Sail Barge to go along with this one...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Nesting Place of the All-powerful Sarlacc" I purchased this set for my young son, and he absolutely loves it. He really enjoys all the play features of the set, including zooming the skiff around, making characters walk the hidden plank, and the 'chomping' action of the Sarlacc. The set also comes with great minifigs, including Han, Chewie, and Boba, which truly lets you set the stage for an epic battle. While my son hasn't seen this particular movie yet, he really enjoys all the characters and is constantly asking about what happens in the films. If you're a fan of the original trilogy, sets like this are a great way to introduce the next generation! Pros: - Great selection of minifigures - Lots of play options with this set Cons: - The Sarlacc pit has great play features, but the tentacles can come off relatively easily with play; fortunately they are also easy to put back in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little set The desert skiff itself looks great – I love the railings, both the stiff and the bendable ones. The gangplank is retractable and has to exposed studs to stand a minifigure on. There's a hidden gun in the box on the deck, and a control station. There's some clear pieces included to raise the skiff a tiny bit. The Sarlacc looks and works very well. It looks frightening even in Lego! The minifigures are fantastic, as usual. I love Boba Fett, he's my favourite minifigure of all times and I appreciate that he looks slightly different to the Carbon Freezing Chamber, since his appearance did change between the two films. Pros: - Great minifigures - Very fun to build - Looks fantastic - Fun play features Cons: - Should have included more clear pieces to lift the skiff higher I'd recommend this set to any Star Wars Lego fans!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible set This set looks good that's about it,where you store the rover is wasted space which could be used for interior detail, the window is curved,Rowan needs a second face. To be honest the Battle on Takodana would have been a much more worthwhile use of 110NZD. To be honest the only thing I can recommend is the figures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great This is a great scene, and overall good value for money for what is included. The minifigures are also great, and displayed alongside Jabba's Barge is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing exclusive minifigs, and nice build. Really like the exclusives minifigs, wich are: Han Solo (only the hair is different fro Carbon Freezing Chamber), Skiff Guard and Boba Fett (yes, he is exclusive, different printing). The only "problem" in this set is that the technic pices in the Sarlacc is not very well hidden. Overall, great set with awesome minifigures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Collectible The Desert Skiff is a set I've missed in the past, but it's a very iconic set, based on an early scene from Episode VI. The set: The build was short and enjoyable. The skiff itself was simple, resulting in a sturdy vehicle with adjustable fins, a weapons compartment, and a collapsible plank. The Sarlaac was a little more tricky. It looks great, but the mechanism used to open/close the mouth (a great feature) is unstable: it results in the closed mouth always hanging lopsided. The characters: first of all, Boba Fett is awesome. Very accurate edition of the bounty hunter, although arm printing would always be a nice extra. ;) Han has a nice hair piece in comparison to the last edition of the Desert Skiff set, and Chewbacca is, of course, in the newest (and very accurate) version as well. The guard is a nice addition. I would have preferred another Lando Calrissian guard like the old set, but his absence is understandable (esp. since he's in the A-wing set). Overall, the Desert Skiff is a collectible that will look nice on the shelf, work well for play (esp. the Sarlaac's "eating" mechanism), and provided fans with a number of exciting and updated characters.
