DescriptionExtra Special Pinot Grigio is from Cavit's finest hillside vineyards in the DOC Trenton area. (DOC represents the quality designation for this wine and means' Controlled Designation of Origin for quality wines produced in a specified region, Trenton.) Hillside vineyards have less fertile soils which produce lower yields of more concentrated fruit that give our Extra Special Pinot Grigio more body and texture. The vineyards are at a higher altitude and are exposed to lower temperatures which allow the grapes to ripen slowly. This gives our Extra Special wine more aromatics, minerality and finesse. Cavit is a modern and forward-thinking co-operative group in the mountainous Trentino region of northeast Italy. Their 11 cellars are responsible for 60% of the region's wine production. The endless permutations offered from their members' 7,000 hectares of vineyard, combined with an intriguing palette of indigenous and international grape varieties, enable Cavit to offer a broad range of wines which excels at every level. The scale of production, combined with ultra-modern winemaking facilities, understandably makes Cavit one of Italy's most reliable sources of great quality and great values wines.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Hollander Not your typical Pinot Grigio Pinot Grigios are usually delicate, light and dry; this one has quite a distinct almost floral bouquet. Although in its own right it may well be a good wine, it's not what I was after nor expecting...almost like an Australian Chardonnay. It's quite drinkable with flavourful food, e.g. oriental/indian. 10 April 2015
