Rated 4 out of 5 by Fussy Eater Yorkie Not a bad kettle. Good price. Doesn't heat up water as hot on small amounts. Thought it might have a better quality from Phillips.

I had this model kettle before and got on so well with it I wanted it again.
I have arthritic thumbs and cannot lift anything too heavy, and found this kettle to be ideal for me. It boils rapidly, pours easily and is not too heavy.

An excellent product but be prepared for leaks after a couple of years. It seems to be a regular problem when I checked on the Internet but I still like the kettle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pippy A fine piece of equipment
Over the years I have had many electric kettles, most were ok and did the job of boiling water. However this Philips kettle is superb. You fill it to the exact amount of water that you need using the transparent scale and thus only boil that amount. The design is good and the filter on the spout is easily removed to clean away any hardness that may have formed. It is also quick to heat the water and being cordless there is no danger that a toddler could pull it off the work surface. A great piece of kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chez22be Value for money, very pleased
This kettle looks lovely in our kitchen. Our previous kettle went rusty within a week, whereas this plastic kettle has kept it's new look.
A family member previously had this kettle which lasted for years
Light weight and simple, value for money. Very pleased

Got sick of anodized expensive stainless steel kettles and wanted a robust simple kettle with an easy to read level indicator (one cup boil ability is an excellent bonus)...this one fits the bill....hope it lasts!

I have purchased three. The first was excellent for 3 years until it started leaking. The second one didn't work at all ( cut out before water was boiling). Third one works well but the "viewing panel" is opaque!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ManOnAMission The perfect kitchen kettle
I have used this product happily for many years and it has saved me lots in electricity, allowing me never to boil more water than I need at the time. As well as this, it is one of the quietest kettles I have come across, it's not too heavy to hold in one hand, and it's quick to boil.
It is also rather stylish, I think.
After years of everyday use, I have just replaced this kettle with a brand new one, and that's the best recommendation I can offer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TraceyAnn222 Plain boiled water tastes of plastic.
Most people won't notice any problem with this kettle until they taste just plain boiled water. Then it tastes of plastic! Makes me wonder what I have been digesting since I bought mine last June! I am going to stick to stainless steel or glass kettles in future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Kate3012 Worst purchase ever
Well, after roughly eighteen months, the kettle seems to have developed a leak, leaving puddles in the base and/or on the worktop making it unusable.
On reading these reviews, it appears it is a common problem and should be looked at by the manufacturers!!!

Finally I've got a kettle where I can boil 1 cup of water. Thus saving water and energy. It's lightweight when you pick it up to fill - so helpful for those with reduced strength in their limbs. Kettle boils very quietly but it boils quickly. Very pleased with my purchase of Philips Eco kettle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by bill125 Awful taste
We liked the eco features of this kettle and it seemed exactly what we were looking for at an attractive price. However, even after boiling water twice before use we found boiled water had an awful taste making tea undrinkable. We tried descaling as suggested on Philips website but to no avail. Eventually we found that if we made sure kettle was totally empty before filling and boiling water just once water all was OK but even a small amount left in kettle before refilling or if existing water is reboiled the strange metallic/chemical taste returns.
Hardly eco credentials if you have to waste previously boiled water!
After 4 weeks we have decided to give up and purchase a new kettle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by whynohaywardspiccalilli Really great and reliable kettle
I only bought a new one as the one I have owned for 4 years got damaged (clumsy me). It works well and is nicely constructed. Easy to read water indicator (so you only use what you need) and boils rapidly. I bought the original one to replace my Bosch kettle and it has stood the test of time. Follow the first use instructions by boiling it twice and throwing the water away. Some users have complained of a strange taste to the water if they did not do this. However this has not been my experience. Very easy to clean and de-scale. My advice, buy as many as you can at the on-line price before they all go.
This item is £5 cheaper on-line than in the store for click and collect and £2 if you get it delivered. In addition you can rely on it being there when you need it. I'm off now to see where they've hidden the gherkins this week !

It almost impossible to see the water levels in the kettle. The viewing panels are dark grey so, with clear water, nothing can be seen. Needs clear panels with dark writing on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by sniff nice design but it leaks
Bought around 2-3 years ago. it is hardly used as we are out of the country for 8 months of the year.
It looks good and works well but sadly leaks, given the other comments about this reoccuring problem its clear it was a design/production issue which should have been sorted during the proving/testing stage before being released for sale.

Claims energy can be saved by filling to one cup and not filling kettle.
This is common sense. No one will fill kettle to more than number of cups needed. This applies to any make of kettle so if one does this they are all energy saving

Phillips kettle, good manufacturer. Good pourer, doesn't dribble over everything. Quick boiler, doesn't boil for a long time before switching off. Like the thermometer-look glass panel to see how much water is in the kettle. You can boil a one-cup amount which is very small, a mug needs about 1.5 cup measures. Very happy with it so far.

This is my second Phillips kettle (same model) and I think it's great. The old one started leaking after 4.5 years so not bad. All of them leak anyway. It looks great, very functional with double clear water level indicator. Highly recommended! Good offer at Asda, it was the cheapest I could find online.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ExTeaDrinkingChampion Does what is says on the kettle!
This Phillips kettle is an attractive addition to our kitchen, though that's not why we bought it. It boils quickly and not unduly noisily, and has been used for boiling as little as one mugful of water. One user has bad arthritis, but copes quite easily with filling, lifting and pouring. In fact one reason for our choice was that this kettle is lighter and better balanced than the previous incumbent. Judgement is reserved on whether it deserves an 'excellent' rating until we see how long it lasts.
