Rated 5 out of 5 by Tilas Awesome set to the Elves line
Man, I haven't sat down and seriously built anything with Lego since I was a little kid. I jokingly said to a friend I missed playing with lego (hello nostalgia!), so he bought me this set (because we're both fans of dragons!)!
For my first real Lego set in oh... many years, this was pretty fun! Both sets were very easy to assemble, and the dragon, oh YES the dragon! She is so pretty, and she poses extremely well! While personally I don't care about the little playset much, I just LOVE this dragon, and now I want to get the others! May have just set off a new obsession, thanks buddy LOL.

I'm very impressed with this set. It's only $20 and you get a dragon, and a cute island. Its nice because for the other dragons, I don't always want the building that goes with them. For example, Zonya is the reason why the set is more expensive, but they threw in cute little builds to go with it. (That is on my wishlist) Anyways, back to the build. It's fairly simple, and a younger child (6 or older) can probably build this set with either little or no help at all. Merina is very cute, she seems more like a puppy than a dragon :P She is pretty articulated, and I love her tail. She has very few stickers, so I call that a relief. Her wings are less articulated than the Queen Dragon, but pretty flexible, compared to Thorne. She has a little water flame to pretend she is breathing water. Her saddle seats only one elf. She has tiny white horns, and a little bow. The island is cute, but pretty random. The catapult to throw food at Merina is nice, but the aim isn't so accurate. The hiding place for the golden binoculars is interesting, and so is the little area for Naida to brush her hair and use perfume. I like the little lilypad and how the island is decorated.
Overall, this set is decent enough for someone who has a tight budget, or needs a simple gift that would thrill any little girl or boy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EDoucet Best dragon set ever
Please note my 6 year-old granddaughter is writing this review.
I like the catapult and the special dragon tail with the ball hinges that turn in all directions. Even the wings move. The head breathes water fire!

So first of all, well done LEGO!!! This set is definitely worth the money and is a must have for anyone even KIND OF interested in the elves series.
Personally, I like combining my different LEGO "groups" (like city, friends, etc.) and since the Elves sets are so bright it is rather difficult to do so. These sets don't actually work very well with other sets, so I tried to make all of my dragons, including this one, more natural.
I didn't put any stickers on the dragons and changed any 1x1 round tile peaces with symbols on them to plain ones. Now you might think I'm crazy, but I like how my dragons turned out. They work better with other sets and look less flashy.
The little pond/tree are is cute but a waste. It is too big to not effect the price of the set and is too small to not be disappointed. I just tore it apart for scraps and recreated the tree on a smaller piece of land.
Some final notes/warnings:
Body is a little skinny, wings sometimes slide off, water in mouth gets in way, and the legs might break but are easy to fix.
This is an amazing starter set that has a few flaws but can easily be overlooked because of how adorable it is!!! Bottom line, BUY IT NOW! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by LegoGirlBeforeFriendsLine Nice Dragon--wish it had two seats though!
My friend sent this beautiful dragon to me. It was much appreciated after a panic attack. It was a pretty easy build. After building, I think I figured out how to make the torso accomodate two mini dolls. Can't wait to do that, and I hope to build the other dragons too (and give them extra seats)!

We bought this dragon as a cake topper for my daughter's birthday. As all Lego items, she had fun building it and it was a hit at her birthday party.

I just love the dragon. She is very nicely designed. The tree is an OK feature, pretty nice looking for a tree. Very nice, I might upgrade the tree to make it more playable. I enjoyed this set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ToaLarich An Alright Set but Hope to See Improvements
So after building this, I can't say I'm a huge fan of this set (granted it was not really for me and the child whom I purchased this for does like it# but as the one who mostly built it I feel there are a few things I'd like to see improvements on for future builds.
The Water Dragon # The Water Dragon was a really fun build and I love that all the Dragons in this line are brick built. But unfortunately I found that the final product feels well....unfinished. It's not a bad build by any means but some of the features feel very thin and disproportionate to the body, for example the way the neck connects makes the Water Dragons massive head look like it's supported by a tiny thin neck, the tail also feels amazingly flat and disproportionate. Honestly I wish more pieces went into buffing out these areas and providing coverage to little gaps in build.
The Waterfall/Tree/Food Catapult?) I really don't have much to say about this build, it's a really nice build with a lot of fun little features to make this little thing a lot more playable than one would expect but overall it just seems kind of...there. There's two functions on this set one releases golden binoculars from a secret compartment and the other catapults food into the Dragons mouth. Both these features are nice but they quickly lose play value, in fact my little cousin who was playing with this set basically abandoned it and pretty much just proceeded to play with the Water Dragon and the Elf minifig. I imagine that's probably because there's not much a kid can *do* with this build other than have serve as some nice scenery. In terms of its aesthetics, the finished build seems nice and colorful but there's a lot of gaps in at the base that I would have liked to see filled.
Overall for such a small set you do get a decent bang for your buck in terms of piece count with some nice trans-color pieces and plenty of sky blues and purple, its nice overall but I wish either the little waterfall construct was removed in favor of a better dragon build or a handful of pieces were added to buff out the tail and neck as well as fill in the baseplate of the little waterfall construct # or maybe throw in some animals??, crabs, octopus, seal, otter something) I wouldn't have minded to pay a few extra dollars for this set to see that happen. But with all that aside it's still a decent set for about 21$ w/ tax and it makes for a nice relatively inexpensive gift that a girl at around age 5-10 would enjoy. This set gets a 3/5 from me.
