Rated 3 out of 5 by Rat proof We purchased 2 of these as we were having problems with rats. I placed them on 600x600mm concrete slabs against a brick wall and although the rats can get their paws into the holes at the base they seem to have given up for now. So I am happy with the finished result. The build quality however is average with the fastening holes for the screws needing a lot of coaxing to line up. Right angle fixing brackets are supplied to strengthen the top front corners which have an angle of approx 110 which I thought was very poor. About half of the bolts supplied had such bad threads they were unusable, again very poor. I had to supply my own. These are not like IKEA flat pack where the construction and fit is A1. Added to this the second bin side could not be made to fit as intended into the base which although irritating will not affect function. It took me 30-45 mins to construct each bin. The instructions were also incorrect and pretty poor. The edges of the sheet steel were also razor sharp to great care is needed when constructing. Overall I was satisfied and couldn't find an alternative. They are a perfect size for kitchen compost, not to small and not to big. They look smart now they are constructed and very sturdy once put together. My irritation is that a little more effort by the manufacturer could have made a great difference putting the thing together. I would buy a third if I run out of space. 13 April 2014
