George Home Electric Skillet is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful & efficient I bought this as we were without a cooker for some time. It has been very handy - heats up quickly and the heat is adjustable. I've cooked steaks, sausages, salmons fillets, fried eggs, even a whole spatchcock chicken. Also various types of veg eg. mushrooms, tomatoes, fried potatoes. One day I made beef stroganoff! It is surprisingly easy to clean too, I just put a bit of water in, heat it up and use a spatula to get rid of any crusty bits. Gets very hot on the outside though, so handle with care! Good vfm imo. Got a cooker again now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Family size! Brought in a sale, so good value for money!. Works well, non-stick surface OK, temperature control fairly accurate, including "keep warm " . It's quite big @ about 40 x 30cm, so good for family or guest portions.

how do i know how long different thing take to cook in electric skillet i purchaced today

Asked by: bark
You have to play it by ear, but remember that the food is in direct contact with the heat source, so you need to keep moving it around to make sure it doesn't stick or burn. It's not quite as hot as a real frying pan would be, so steak (for example) takes a bit longer in my experience than it would do on the hob. You will also find that some parts of the pan are slightly hotter than others, so you can move things to the edge when they're cooked and they will keep warm with less chance of burning. If the food you're cooking gives off a lot of water, it helps to take the lid off briefly and let the moisture evaporate, otherwise it'll braise rather than frying. For frying, you need it on the hottest setting, but a low(er) setting is better for other things eg. sausages or salmon. I cooked a whole spatchcock chicken (on a low temp) and it took roughly as long as it would in the oven ie 40/50 mins. Hope this helps!
