Well, reading a lot of the other reviews I was quite dubious about buying this product as it is about 50/50 in terms of good and bad reviews; but hey asda do their returns policy which is as simple as dropping it back into one of their stores so why not give it a try?
For the money spent (and at the time it cost me around £15) it's brilliant. I mainly take pictures at car shows, so all sorts of weather and terrains and I've never had a problem with it.

Well what can I say about the Vivitar 57inch Tripod? Absolutely brilliant... comes in its own over the shoulder carry case, has a downloadable software code within the box.
Then I move onto the tripod itself, strong and durable, rigid design, yet still smooth and pleasing to the eye.
Smooth extending action from the lever mounted on the base. The legs mounted inside each other are easy to release, just two clicks and you pull them out before closing the catches.
The handle for panning round on the pod itself is sturdy with the weight of the camera and the spirirt level really helps for getting those straight shots whether using a video camera or a regular.
Lightweight but useful wherever you intend to use it, would recommend this to anyone! Definately value for money!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jamaro Cheap but usefull
Need a tripod occasionally... then this will do the job. It not the most robust of tripods but it is small and light for carrying around. It opens up to a decent height and providing that you are not using it in a gale force wind then it provides usefull base for a still or video camera. Adding weight to the bottom of the centre stem stabilises it considerably. A good buy for occasional use indoors but you will need something more substantial for the great outdoors.

At the price this was an excellent buy. Not the best available but certainly does what it is intended to do and does it well. Lightweight, so not good in bad weather conditioins or when windy, but excellent otherwise.

can't believe how cheap this tripod is. have used it with a nikon dslr and it did as it said on the tin.a more expensive tripod may be sturdier but my pics came out clear with no discernable camera shake.

For the money I suppose it is what you would expect. The all plastic construction makes it a little unsteady when fully extended. Not for the profesionals, but ok for a camera steady. The swivel head is useful for panoramic shots. Some simple instructions would have been handy.
In all a bit disappointing, I did consider returning it but then decided that it should be OK for my purpose.

It's an excellent tripod FOR THE PRICE. It's lightweight but not very sturdy so it would not be suitable for windy weather. It feels plasticy and I don't mean it in a nice way but feels good enough. For the amateur and casual photographer like me it does the job , do not expect professional quality tripod but good enough nevertheless. I would definitely recommend this product.

It does every thing it's asked to do. Altough bulid quality could be better for the price of less than £15.00 you will have no complaints.
A remarkable tripod for a remarkable price. And collection time was 24 hours from time of puchase.
