Description
Corporate billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and working class mechanic Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) have nothing in common except for their terminal illnesses. While sharing a hospital room together, they decide to leave it and do all the things they have ever wanted to do before they die according to their bucket list. In the process, both of them heal each other, become unlikely friends, and ultimately find the joy in life.Carter is faithfully married to his loving wife Virginia (Beverly Todd), who is remarkably restrained about seeing her dying husband off on this madcap journey with his newfound friend as they travel around the world in his private jet.
Edward, on the other hand after four divorces, has no restraints, plenty of regrets, and is willing to be generous on a whim.
On their journey, Carter and Edward have pseudo-profound conversations about the Meaning of It All, and Carter's superior humanity begins to soak in on the less worthy Edward.
Directed by Rob Reiner and written by Justin Zackham this film takes a somewhat whimsical stance on cancer, and aims to inspire rather bog the viewer down with the defeating realities of terminal illness.
