Five diverse but rebellious suburban students at Chicago's Shermer high school blame their parents for their misfortunes. There's a jock, a princess, a misfit, a nerd, and a lout. Not much in common, except it's the week-end and all are having to give up their day serving Saturday detention for misconduct. They are required to sit in the school library and write an essay for the principal.
Being from such widely different backgrounds and having such completely different personalities, it's inevitable some frictions and shenanigans develop, especially when the principal leaves the room. They bare their souls and come to a better understanding of themselves and each other and wind up becoming friends.
