Rated 4 out of 5 by David Affordable alternative. Great Performance!
I bought the S4 mini instead of upgrading from iPhone4 to iPhone5s. Very happy with the S4 mini after getting used to android system. Huge cost saving, and much lighter handset without losing performance.
Only disappointments for me are the extra apps that come shipped with the phone which you're unable to delete... especially annoying since they bug you for updating quite often even though I'm not using them. Battery life is limited.. I'm finding that the battery needs charging most nights, but on feeling how light this phone is, that doesn't come as a surprise and a fair balance was found.

Finally a smaller smartphone from the flagships nowadays, not everyone wants a 5 inch screen, some prefer smaller screen but vendors choose to stick in low end chips. With the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini you get Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 under the hood, as its named, it is very snappy. Handles all task from light to heavy with ease. Hardware is top notch. Value for money. Benchmarks states that even its a dual-core, its way ahead of most quad-core chips except the high-end Snapdragon. Trust me get this phone, you won't regret it. Its beautiful no matter black or white.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kilpauk Syncing with 'Samsung kies' is not a seamless experience
Having used an iPhone, Galaxy S4 I found wanting in sharpness of fonts and images, or shall I say, less saturation of pictures. Transfer of music and files from a PC through Samsung Kies SW proved a frustrating and time consuming and annoying experience. The SW is very slow and poor in 'status display' of the ongoing installation leaving one wonder if the PC has hung. Downloading of Samsung Kies is not hassle free. Samsung shall address this first to provide seamless syncing like iTunes. Having replicated every feature of iPhone this shall not be left out.

The phone looks good but is poor quality. A slow, buggy, brittle device. Which is strange as had no issues at all while testing the full size. This is terrible. Now, to top it off, my phone fell out of bed this morning - 50cm fall onto carpet. The screen has cracked in half and the phone is completely useless. Are you kidding me? I guess it doesn't have guerilla glass! Be warned, do not get this on a long contract. I look after my stuff and it has lasted me two months.

The S4 Mini is the device that I really like. This version of the S4 makes the average user (like me) easier to handle, because the S4 original was way big. The problem is that it has no high def (1280x720 at least) because even the iPhone 5 has a higher res. + it's 4 inches, not 4.3. But overall, it is a great phone and Android 4.2.2 makes it better.
Question: Is there a way that I could upgrade Android 4.2.2 to 4.3 or 5.0?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sandeep Nice Alternative To S4 Galaxy
I bought this unlocked phone and absolutely love it. The phone has everything that I need. The size of the phone is good and fits well in my palm. It might miss a couple of features that are on the original S4 but that doesn't bother me. The phone is fast, screen size and display quality is good. The sound quality from the speakers is good and the sound quality from handsfree is very good.
I would recommend this phone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by nobody Poor sound quality, no update to 4.3, slow
I have constant problems with this phone ever since I've picked it up. The persons I talk to complain that they can't hear me from time to time, tapping the phone with a finger nail seems to fix it. I can barely hear anyone I'm talking to and the sound quality is extremely poor.
Android 4.4 is out and this phone still hasn't received an update to Android 4.3.
This is the last phone I'm buying from Samsung.

just got this phone today and so far it seems pretty great. great color for pics and videos. sound is good. lightweight. have to play with it a little more to see how it really works. downside when making a three way call i cant figure out how to hang the call up. and neither can the three teenagers in my house, including a child that has the galaxy ii. if i cant figure it out may have to take it back.
