Rated 1 out of 5 by No good - alarm goes off even when set to radio Looks good but that's about it. I bought a radio alarm clock because I don't want to be woken up by a loud alarm in the morning. However the buzzer still sounds loudly when either alarm is set to radio - not great for a gentle wake up call! If this was fixed it would be a good product but as it stands I would avoid it. Mine will be going back... 12 October 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bought without reading reviews This product has the potential to be really good but it fails with the buzzer and radio going off at the same time, and it really is audible. I am taking it back as it is so irritating. Currently I am sitting in another room and I can still hear the buzzer over the top of the music playing. That is really sad as the set up was so very easy, not obviously complicated and you didn't really need instructions to set up the different alarms, set the clock etc. I would say that the buttons on the side are a bit on the small side and don't look that robust, but only time and usage would tell whether this would be a problem. Then can be a bit fiddly to move to the different settings and someone without manual dexterity would find them a problem I think 17 July 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Buzzer going off when set to radio wake will be an issue for some I like this radio. Aesthetically it ticks the boxes and it's fairly intuitive to operate. As mentioned by others however there is self evidently a fundamental fault with the alarm function - when set to radio wake the buzzer can also be heard in the background, albeit very faintly. The FAQ gives a fudged answer to the problem providing two unsatisfactory work-arounds. The issue needs acknowledging and fixing. I would assume it's being looked at by Philips. I've decided to keep it rather than return it. I use the radio primarily to check the time and wake me up in the morning. For actual radio listening in the bedroom I use the freeview radio on the TV. I suppose it's up to the individual whether this issue is important enough to prevent someone buying the radio. 15 October 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 Beeps when set as radio alarm! Looks good but... I wish I'd read these reviews before buying the alarm. If you set it to wake you using the radio, it still beeps. And plenty loud-enough to hear it and for the beeping to detract from John Humphries and the others on Radio4. The philips support FAQs say to tune it better but this doesn't remove the problem. Turning up the volume of the radio isn't appropriate for early morning! The only option is to turn off the radio alarm and then turn the radio back on manually every morning. Pointless!!! 28 September 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by This product is excellent, but not as good as its predecessor. This is an attractive alarm clock with a clear display. However the size of the display, the actual dimensions of the visible digits has been reduced from the earlier model which I had for years. Similarly the brightness of the display has been diminished, which is not to my particular satisfaction. The clock itself is superb to look at but I feel that the alterations from the previous model have not necessarily been to any visible advantage - almost change for change sake. 05 September 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Looks good...thats about it! Sound is average and looks great. But the buttons are awkward to use one handed and it had a really annoying habit of the transformer plug buzzing all night long. It stopped working completely after about 10 months. Definately would not recommend this product, which is a shame because it had so much potential. 22 July 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Alarm clock for the price Been using this alarm clock for some time now and i really liked it. My sister now owns it as she loved the mirror design. It was quick and easy to set up. Only down side for me is it's not loud enough for me. I'm a very heavy sleeper but my whole family wake up to it so it must be me. 02 October 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Display is too bright Overall the clock does what it says on the box quite well. The only change I would make would be to change the colour of the desplay to a red or blue. At present the display on its dimmed position is still very very bright in the depths of the night and lights up the room. 04 October 2011
