Woody Allen is forever being touted as 'returning to form'. It seems to me his films has always been made up of moments of inspiration and occasional clunky scenes. The most recent films display this in spades whether it be the cynical charm of "whatever works" or the rather more stumbling " You will meet a tall dark stranger". "Midnight in Paris" seems to manage to pull of the trick fully though. The set-up is familiar Allen territory sprinkled with whimsical ideas of travelling back to a golden age. The actors seem to be having a ball as well and rightly so as the script is a delight. All in all, this is probably one of Woody Allen's more satisfyingly complete films of recent years. May there be many more to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Westwingaddict No cd ?
This is a return to form for Woody Allen. A great film about nostagia and romance, and a celebration of great artists from the past. The story has a Frank Capra feel to it. Best of all is the wonderfully eclectic soundtrack - including songs by Cole Porter and great clarinet playing by Sydney Bechet. Why then, is there no soundtrack cd abvailable to purchase ?
