Rated 5 out of 5 by Sprinkles Durable learning fun
I bought this for a 2 and a half year old boy along with the Cars, ToyStory, and Dora Tag Jr. books. This is his first Leapfrog toy. He quickly learned how to turn it off an on. He likes to stick his finger in the hole in the bottom where the "eye" is but this did not damage the toy. His favorite book is Cars, which is about shapes. He will grow into the other books soon and likes to explore with his Tag Jr.
The carry case makes an excellent bag to keep all the books and toy in the same place.
TIP: I downloaded all the books onto the Tag Jr. before giving them as a gift. This way, the toy is ready to go the moment it is in his/her hands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mommy831 Great product, needs more memory
My son LOVES his Tag Jr! He loves all the sounds in the books, answering the questions and listening to the stories. My only complaint is the lack of memory. I believe it holds about 5 books but he has about 10. So he gets very frustrated wanting to use a book and in his 2 year old little mind, "it's broke!". Then I have to reload different books on the device....this is not ideal when I'm cooking dinner or we're on a road trip. (great entertainment in the car, though!)
I would love to see the product redesigned to hold a memory card...we would own every single Tag Jr. book if the memory was capable of holding them all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by momuvboys This product is more limited than I expected
My 2 y/o son received the tag jr as a present, and I was initially excited. He likes to play with it periodically, and will sometimes get excited about it for 15 miutes or so. However, I found the books to be expensive and limited. A lot of the books he would enjoy turn out to be Tag books, not compatible wth Tag Jr. If I had known that, I would have returned the product for the Tag, but that would have been difficult for him to manipulate. Ultimately, he still prefers (as do I) to have me read to him, which is a lot less expensive! Plus, a regular book can be read right away, without having to download information from the computer while an impatiant toddler waits!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CandyL I had to buy a second one!
My 2 year old received a tag junior and some books when she was 1 and love it. She quiet leave her bedroom with her sleeping infant sister and sit on the couch with her tag junior and books and read. She learned her letters, sounds, and emotions (Monster Faces). Eventually, infant sister turned one and began to fight for her tag junior, we had to get another.
Each has a tag that says their names. Even the 1 year old know how to place tag on different section of each page to reveal new words, songs, sounds, etc. We worried when the 2 year old wasn't learning her colors. Curious George Colors helped her, she knows them now! Great gift! Keeps the kids entertained, easy to use, and they learn.

I just purchased Tag Junior for my 2 year old son. He seems to really like it and he picked it up and immediately turned it on and started going on the first shot. My problem with the product is that it's not compatible with Windows 7. I returned the first one I bought thinking it was defective, but then the second one had the same problem! Thankfully, there are two computers in my household, the other with Windows Vista. If you have Windows 7, I suggest saving your money for something else. Scout, however, has no problem with Windows 7- so I wouldn't say to stay away from Leapfrog completely.

this is a great gift for toddlers who love books -my grandkids drag them everywhere and read , pulling it out in the car, on the floor or in the house. Best gift ever and most affordable. was a real hit with grandkids and parents!! i would recommend to any grandparents out there who want to give something special besides toys. cant wait to see what comes next for my grandkids because we plan to use leapfrog each year for christmas and birthdays. my family members are big readers and i must say leapfrog came out with great reading tools!!! i surprised my family with the tag junior bundles since gramma decided to give a fun educational toy for reading instead of the usual toys. thank you very much leap frog!!

My son received his Tag Junior as a 2nd birthday present. I credit this product with "teaching" him many things from the alphabet and numbers to shapes and colors. He LOVES his Tag Junior and will play with it for hours and recite his favorite parts from the books. However, the fact that it can only hold five books is ridiculous. Our son has 10 books and we have to hide the ones that "don't work." It's a real shame that more books exist than can be held on the book pal. I would be willing to purchase more memory. We have considered buying a second book pal, but then it just creates the dilemma of trying to teach our son which books go with which pal. If memory weren't an issue, I'd give this product five stars.

We asked Grandpa and Grandma for this gift and now I feel bad about it. The concept itself is fantastic and my 3y/o loves it! However people buy us more books to use with it, but if you notice, there's only 8MB of memory!!!What!?! We now own several of the "sets" and you can only do one set at a time--so when she wants to read from both sets, I can't let her! :(
Then I have to connect the Leap Jr. to the computer, remove one set, add the other, etc, etc, etc. You get the picture--it ruins the novelty, the love of the books, and the toy itself--when a toddler doesn't know which books they can/can't read--well, it's not going to last long. It's too bad, because we really like the idea and it's so easy for her to use.
