Well I have purchased several sets from the Lego movie so far. I had higher hopes for the trash chomper although my son enjoys it. I am mildly disappointed, as others have said, in the chomper jaw mechanism. It operates roughly, unevenly and is a friction design. The cool factor is up there and the fact that you can build two designs from one set is always a plus. That will keep my son interested for sure. But I am not so excited about the "chomper" version; I anticipate we will rebuild into the trash truck and keep it in that configuration. Overall still a neat Lego movie set, but I did have better expectations on this one.

I really like this set and I think it cool that we get another trash truck since we got one from Lego City set 4432 but that one was like an actual trash truck this truck you could make as a recycle truck I also like the other build which the trash chomper itself it is alittle challening to build than the trash truck build but still very cool how you can also make the mouth move like for example trash, a minifigure or a micromanger. Also the micromanger in this set is very cool and I like how it has two flaps for missiles underneath to fire which are very cool. This is a good set and if you don't have this set I would get it.

I AM BLOWN AWAY BY HOW AMAZING THIS SET IS!!!! I had been wanting it for SOOO long. I had trouble deciding between the Ice Cream Machine, Castle Cavalry, or the Flying Flusher. Not to be mean, but after I looked at all the PROS and CONS I decided on the Trash Chomper and man, am I sure glad I did. I am in LOVE with the fact that it can rebuild. I only have one complaint about this set: the mouth. It looks great when it opens and closes, but the fact that it relies on friction isn't that great. I read this review this other person made and said they fixed the problem, so I did what he said, and now I am very happy. I would give this set a rate of 500000000000/10. I would tell anyone thinking about buying this set to buy it.

this is an awesome set! the details are impressive and the build is very interesting. the chomper truck is nice and sturdy but the trash cans can fall off easy... there is also a HUGE amount of classic green parts as well as some nice orange parts. overall a great value if your looking at collecting such colors :)
I have not built the Alternate "regular truck" model yet... mostly because the chomper truck was so cool.
the minifigures are nice, and having a chef is neat! but I feel he could have used a second face.
the micro manager is cool as well.

Expect this to be smaller than you thought. :P
Obviously the predominant feature is the Chomper's chomping "mouth". Sadly, the opening and closing of the mouth depends on the friction between a peg and hub, so it doesn't always work when you turn the knob, and I expect this feature will worsen over time. :( The Chomper looks like a trash truck that was taken apart and thrown back together, but not like a bunch of LEGO bricks thrown together. Nicely done.
The recycling truck looks quite beautiful (ha, the irony). I would love to put it in a big LEGO city. The back opens well and has just enough space to dump your bones and carrot stalks into - WAIT A MINUTE! This is supposed to be a RECYCLING truck... why are they cleaning up food scraps?

I had been wanting to get a garbage truck for a while, and was happy to see a new one was coming out for the new LEGO movie. I was quite surprised when I stumbled upon 2 boxes left at a store before Christmas. I built the black robot first so I could save the truck for last. The truck is full of LOTS of green parts and some other unique pieces. I like how the back trash door swings up though it was a bit of a challenge building the door. The fact that you can build 2 models out of all of the pieces makes me feel like I am getting my money's worth, though one model has to be taken apart to build the other. Not a big fan of the black robot itself. I have not built the alternate model yet. I might pick up another after the holidays so I can have both models.

This set is hilarious to look at. It is a man eating garbage truck, and even the jaws can be controlled. Inside there is even a cockpit to keep the driver, but the other garbage man has to hold onto the smoke pipe to ride.
Not only that, it is a 2 in 1 so you can make an actual garbage truck out of it. The regular garbage truck has a cool mechanism that allows the back to be opened and you can put studs in there! It is quite difficult to get them out though. The micro-manager is cool as well, it is unique because of its hover pads on the bottom (Does not actually hover) and the open missile compartments. But I rebuilt it and made it into a race car! Overall this set is a lot of fun to play with and a cool set to put on a shelf for collectors. Again, a must-have for Lego movie fans!

I'm verymuch enjoying The LEGO Movie sets with two sets of build instructions. One set for a regular City style build, and a second for a fantasy rebuild.
Plenty of good pieces and plenty of green in this set. Also a color of minifig torso printed with reflective work stripes that I haven't seen before.
I'm mildly disappointed that the mechanism to open and close the jaws of the chomper vehicle uses friction pegs rather than axles, so it does slip and behave oddly.
