Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome for juniors... but great for all ages too Although it says juniors, it is great for kids, teens, and adults alike. If you missed out on the Spider-Man spider-cycle set with Spider-Man, Venom, and Nick Fury, this comes with 2 of the 3 characters (Spidey and Venom). So, without further interruption onto the review: Pros: Spider-Man (he has a red hip piece unlike the other sets where it is blue) Venom (Very detailed figure) The car (it is a lot of fun to play with) The road/building piece (adds extra playability and it could be a great addition in any city) The web and the white string (always good for Spider-Man to swing on and catch Venom with) Great printed pieces Cons: NONE! 19 April 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Close, but not perfect. This is a great simple kit. I picked it up for my 2.5 year old and he loves it. But, the way Venom's tentacles attach to his hand!? That, LEGO, is just sad. There are plenty of ways they could have been attacked to his back. Maybe this small detail has something to do with this being a LEGO Juniors kit, the other kits with Venom seem to get this right. But for the life of me I can't figure out what advantage this would provide either LEGO as far as price point & profit, or the kids that will be using this kit. Anyway, that detail aside, the kit works great. 20 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the New Juniors Superhero Line The new Juniors line is perfect for my 4 year old!!! He has been building older Lego sets since he was 3 years old but always required assistance. This Juniors Spiderman set was at the perfect level for him. He followed the instructions and built the set within 15 minutes without any help. He LOVES Superheros and Star Wars so this was the perfect addition to his Lego collection. We just saw there is now a Batman set and will be picking it up shortly. We can't wait to see what other sets will be added to the Juniors line.....hoping for some Star Wars!!! 11 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by just plain FUN this set has a lot going for it even though its only got 55 pieces. i'm WAY over the age recommendation and i LOVE this set. it helps that i'm a huge spider-man fan and its an easy way to get two awesome minifigures. it only took me about 3/4 minutes to build but i had a great time playing with it. WHO CARES IF SPIDER-MAN NEVER HAD A CAR!!!!! what little kid is going to care just have fun with it. over all i would give this set a 10 because its just plain fun. little pricey for what it is though. 27 February 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Why is Spider-Man in a Car? I really wish LEGO had done a better job for a Spider-Man Junior's set. My son doesn't want to drive Spider-Man around in a car. He wants him to swing on a web! Has Spider-Man EVER driven a "spider-car" in ANY cartoon or movie? NO! Why not use the pieces to build two small buildings or a lamp post where Venom could be tied up (a classic Spider-Man trope; tying up the victims to the lamp post in front of the Police Station). ANYTHING besides a "Spider-Car." Come on LEGO. Do Better! 17 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great set! Son loves it! I disagree with the above negative reviews - and I am usually a tough reviewer. My son LOVES cars - so to have a car for spiderman was great for him (re: 'Why spiderman in a car?' question above). Also, this set includes a web that spiderman can swing from - and my son loves it. He built a tower, hung the web from it, had Spidey swinging, and also tied up the bad guy with the web string. The set has everything - cars for car lovers, superhero, bad guy, webs - and for a good price. The pieces seem fine to me - there are some custom pieces like the hood and headlights that are different from standard lego sets, but that makes them good - they are different, with spiderman pictures on them. Also, I will agree that there is one weakness in the design - the wings do tend to fall off occassionally because there is nothing extra holding them on under the car. However, if it happens too much I plan to just take some plates and support it more, although I have to see if that interferes with the wheels (hadn't had a chance, hasn't been much of an issue - my 4 year old just puts the piece back on when it falls off). Now all lego has to do is make a great batman and batmobile set! All the batman sets have planes and my son is a wheel guy. 03 March 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Below our expectations My son absolutely loves legos. We both have separate sets. This one was specifically for his collection. I couldn't believe my ears when my son said "these aren't legos mommy, theyre different!" He stared at that box the entire car ride home and could barely wait to get in the door to open the box! As he put the pieces together, he had a hard time with the pieces bc for some reason, they just didn't stay well at all. anytime you touched something, you were re-building it. I have been building with legos for many years now and I know I have never had issues with my bricks like this.....on off brands yes....lego? never! My kiddo knows his stuff, hence the comment he made! I was excited to add Venom and Spidey to the minifig collection but they are slightly different. The "opening" on the top of the heads are completely closed. This resembles the early lego heads that I was under the impression were retired from lego. Not an entirely big setback but definitely could upset some collectors. Over all the set is cute. I don't recall Spidey ever driving a flying car but hey....were talking about juniors here! The piece count is very small but again, all of this is due to the fact that it is a juniors set. The set is made to be easier and geared towards the younger fans. I think the set is adorable for my 3.5 yr. old but not soo much for bigger kids. Thanks for reading my review. 21 February 2014
