After much debating and comparison of other similar products, I decided the Kobo Touch was for me. My daughter has a Kindle Fire which is great for many things, but for book reading I found it irritated my eyes and had too much reflection. I easily read a whole book with my Kobo and PDFs are also a breeze--no weird formatting issues. Because Kobo supports e-pub, I can get library books as well. I also love the velvety feel of the Kobo; it's comfortable to hold and doesn't seem to show fingerprints (mine is basic black). While tablets are great for multi-use, if you just want to read a book, the Kobo is a superior choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by coachdaveb Great little e-reader
I chose the Kobo e-reader because, having already owned an early e-reader, I wanted one with a much better screen (clearer and faster refresh) and much better battery life (my first e-reader only lasts a couple of days) but I didn't want to be 'tied' to one source of books. The Kobo Touch has actually exceeded my expectations and is far better than my existing e-reader in many other ways - it's extremely easy to browse and buy books as well as incorporate my existing library; it's much smaller and lighter without sacrificing screen size and the touch screen makes it a breeze to operate.

Rated 5 out of 5 amazing purchase
i looked at this and the kindle fire... this won hands down with the touch screen and also the ability to insert more storage via a micro sd card up to 32gb, its not only an ereader, you can also browse the internet via wi-fi which is amazing. up to press there is nothing i regret about buying the kobo touch, it was a magnificent buy. full marks all the way down the line for this one.

This e-reader was a replacement for an identical device that failed after 11 months of light use. In daily use it is fine, but it's big disappointment is in the very slow, clunky and non-intuitive software that you have to use to find and load books. (As an IT professional with over 40 years experience, I know what constitutes poor software.)
It's easy if you want the latest best sellers, but if you want to browse, select and sort books in a chosen category e.g. crime, SF, etc., it's very primitive and time consuming.
I have been told (but not checked ) that another even better-known e-reader is even worse in this respect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by apomabroad great product!
We brought this for someone who is hard to buy for, it's easy to use, and to add books to, not just for the young, but the young at heart :-)

This item is a very good purchase and is far more superior to the Kindle. After a friend buying a kindle i found the Kobo product far more user friendly and would recommend this product to friends and have actually purchased another one for my nephew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by taz1571 great purchase
this was bought as a birthday present, easy to use and set up, ideal for bedtime reading, reading on the go and holidays with no bulky books taking up luggage space. Downloading from the site is simple and fast with lots of great reads at great prices.
Down sides are no back light for reading at night and no sample books on the Kobo to get you started.

My first foray into ereaders .... and I've not touched a "real" book since I got it.
It is SO easy to use .... and if I can do it, anyone can. The instructions are adequate but - if you DO get stuck - there's loads of help on the web. Not that I've needed it.
I especially like the fact that I can download ebooks onto a micro-SD card and then pop it in the Kobo.
I'm loving it.
