How does the high pressure cleaner work?
A garden hose connects the pressure washer to the tap which normally supplies water at a pressure of 4 bar (60 PSI). The pump in the pressure washer produces a water pressure of up to 150 bar (2200 PSI).The water emerges through a small high-pressure nozzle as an intense, concentrated jet which has considerable cleaning power. When you use a pressure washer you save a lot of time and money: A garden hose working at a pressure of 4 bar uses about 3,500 litres of water per hour, while a pressure washer operating at 100 bar uses only about 400 litres per hour.
Karcher pressure washers are right for removing unsightly stains on garden furniture that have been caused by air pollution or winter storage.
What can you clean with a pressure washer?
Pressure washers are versatile helpers around the home: Simply connect to the water and power supplies, switch on the pressure washer - and the fun can begin.
Our examples of typical applications demonstrate how to handle the pressure washer correctly and the points to be observed.
With our range of special accessories your pressure washer becomes a real allround tallent: Wet blasting, pipe cleaning, patio cleaning, pumping a pond dry - you will probably discover many other uses for your Kärcher.
Please note when you are working that the impact pressure is highest right next to the nozzle. That means you should get really close to remove obstinate stains, and keep a much greater distance when there is only light soiling or you are cleaning a sensitive surface.
- As moss not only covers the surface in a thick layer but also sits in the pores of stones slabs, we recommend it be removed with a Dirt Blaster nozzle.
- The Dirt Blaster combines the concentrated cleaning power of a solid pencil jet with the area coverage of a fan jet.
- Hold the high-pressure jet almost at right angles to the slab and slowly sweep the jet from one edge of the slab to the other at a distance of 20 to 30 cm.
Tip: Siphoning water from a tank or pond:
If you want to use water from a tank or pond, which is at a lower level than the pressure washer, we recommend the following: Place the suction hose (optional extra) in 3 or 4 loops directly in front of the pressure washer. Lower the end of the hose with the filter and non-return valve into the pond. Fill the hose with water from the other end, connect the hose to the pressure washer. Before starting work, allow the unit to run for a while until bubble-free water emerges from the high-pressure outlet.
- Coatings of algae and barnacles on the hull and deck of sailing boats or motor cruisers are no problem for a pressure washer
