Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 68 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Handy little printer Managed to get this cheaper at high street store in 'sale' - nice light printer, took longer to remove all the packaging and sticky tabs than it did to set up on iphone/pad/OLD Macbook white (on snow leopard) at 10.6.8 No problems linking to my wifi at all. I used the wifi set up button on the printer (click ok and tab across) to add WPA code. Printing is quicker and quieter than my old printer. Have had some smearing on envelopes - but think I need to do some test copies to sort out. All in all good value for everyday/light printing. Managed to get a pack of 4 inks at reduce price in sale too - so not too bad - think will last a while... 23 November 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Failed again - reliability issues? I have been a loyal Epson customer since my first printer, the dot matrix LQ-100, but recent experiences have disillusioned me. I bought a printer; uninstalled previous printer and installed the new model:it would not power up. The XP-312 was the replacement under guarantee; uninstalled previous model and installed the XP-312. All was fine for a short time... a very short time, until this model failed too. Still under guarantee so after another wait (more time without a printer, more inconvenience) I received the replacement XP-212. Uninstalled the XP-312 and installed new printer... My advice is to keep the box of your new printer until the guarantee period is over. 30 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Compact and Easy set up I could not see the reviews on this site, but have noticed on other sites that most of the lower ratings are due to set up problems. I am not brilliant with computers, but if you follow the instructions given, this is a very easy printer to set up with clear, concise instructions. I think most people having problems were not reading them properly, for example plugging printer in too early. As for the printer itself it is a little belter! Very compact and very easy to use. I have not tried photos yet as I've only had it a day or two, but the scanner, copier are both good, and I'm very impressed with the print speed. Only reason not 5 star is that not tried photos yet. 10 March 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Managed to print Installation was difficult as the wizard did not find the (previously) networked printer, and therefore prompted me to plug in the USB cable, of which there is none for this printer model, and no slot for a USB on the printer anyway. Online chat provided link to totally different install wizard , which worked fine - so why is that not on the main website?? Have downloaded iPrint and managed to print a document via webpage address (had to copy and paste it in, under 'web page print' option within iPrint). So thats the first time I have managed to print from iPhone which is v good - but when you use normal iPhone print facility it still says 'no airprinters found', which is a shame. 12 November 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 Problems from the start Having bought my new printer and then discovered I had to buy a new set of ink cartridges and a lead to connect it to my laptop which should have been in the box I took it home and loaded the CD as instructed only to discover the CD download did not work. I then wrote to Customer service who replied promptly but with the news that I had to download the drivers from the website. What a miserable start and now I cannot get it to work without the lead. I wish I had read the reports before buying it. It will probably only last a few months and I certainly will not be buying an Epson product again. 06 October 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Wifi setup terrible I followed the instruction to set up a wifi connection. After 6 attempts somehow it found the laptop next to it. After two weeks it lost the wifi connect. I have spent three hours trying to get this printer to talk to a laptop, router and ipad. The auto setup does not work and takes you to manual setup, that fails. This is a poor printer, i would not recommend it although i like epson printers normally. It is three weeks old and it does not do wifi. Usb connection is fine but i got it to print from my ipad via wifi. Epson should sort this out and make connection simpler/ work. 01 February 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Shocking Userbility A nightmare to set up, dropped the WIFI numerous times. Printing from WIFI direct (Tablet) is a nightmare as you need to disconnect from the WIFI network and it wont remember the key to reconnect. As for Scanning... just doesn't work, the software that come with the printer is next to useless and fails everytime and the EpsonPortal software if in Japanese or Chinese. Not much use really as I speak neither..... The only reason it gets one star is the printing which is good at best... A really bad choice, I would avoid this device at all costs. I will not buy Epson again. 12 February 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Epson xp-312 printer I can't understand the bad reviews about this printer ? I checked loads of printers out and reviews before deciding on this one, arrived today 9/05/2014 it's literally took me 10 minutes to set up via wifi or go on then I'll give the doubters about this printer the benefit of the doubt took me 15 minutes to set up on my pc and my android phone via both on Wi-Fi and the printer works perfect, my 6 year old granddaughter could of done it. all you need to do is follow the very simple instructions hey presto it works lol. only gripe I have is when I print a A4 photo there's all lines in the photo, could be I'm using Matt photo paper don't know but the 6x4 inch prints are absolutely amazing. well done Epson great printer. 09 May 2014

    Answer:
Yes, I have just set it up although instructions are poor. Don't use the driver disc that comes with it go to the Epson web site, click on SUPPORT, put in model number and site will automatically detect your operating system etc. Scroll down to DRIVERS & SOFTWARE then use WEB INSTALLER. This will then check for latest drivers etc. which you can download. Even doing it this way though the instructions are not crystal clear but should be easy enough to anyone with a little know how.
