cant praise dyson enough this is my third dyson and I have loved all of them. They have lived upto their name and I have never had one go wrong. My last one was fab an animal ,but my other half stole it to use as clear up for decorating hence the new one . The delivery time was 3 days very good and the packaging was ok to get into. The dc 47 was easy to unpack and assemble. Gave the machine a good check over and made sure all was working well which it was. I would always recommend dyson to any one even when I worked in Comet it was the one I always got a sale on. Love dyson x

I have had a couple of upright Dyson vacuum cleaners and been extremely happy with them. As we have downsized we decided to try a smaller more compact model, however, sorry to say this model has not lived up to expectations. The main body is not stable and it keeps tipping over, the cable is definately not long enough and it makes my back ache using it. I even got my daughter to try it in her own home, and she has the same opinions as me. On a positive note it does pick up satisfactorily. Overall I am really dissappointed in my purchase.

the DC47 multi floor is a very good vacuum cleaner. we had the upright one before and it was to heavy to carry upstairs this one is a lot lighter.
only thing that could be improved are the power cord could be a lot longer doesn't reach very far. and the dirt holder could be a bit bigger have to empty it at least 7 times during a days cleaning!
suction is very good and it work hard on the pet hair we have. the carbon fitted tool attachment could use a bit more work but apart from that a very good little machine!! definitely recommended!

With regret I am writing this review as I purchased a DC47 5 weeks ago after the second day the coil no longer worked when the button was pushed in. In the reviews that I read abut the DC47 no one mentioned how short the lead was .I don't have massive rooms but I cannot get from one end to the other without having to unplug it and place in a different socket. Yes it is lightweight and the suction is good
but its more suited for a small home. I just find it annoying that I have to keep plugging and unplugging very time I use it

This is my first purchase of a Dyson. The suction is great-it really lives up to my expectations-I love the trigger on the handle which alters the suction. I didn't buy the 'animal' version but this one copes well with cat hairs. The machine is light enough to pick up with one hand to do the stairs and is manoeuvrable although it occasionally topples over. I bought it from John Lewis and it came with a package of tools which cover most of my cleaning needs. I also bought the tangle tool which is great and cleans really stubborn fluff and hair. Not sure about the instructions in pictures-I didn't find these easy to follow.
I've just washed the filters for the first time- bit of a fuss but I'm sure it'll be quicker next time. One filter took longer than 24 hours to dry.

I LOVE my Dyson! It is my first, being a young student living in my first flat with my partner, we thought we'd splash out and get value for money and buy a dyson - we did and i don't think we will ever look back!! The dyson DC47 Multi Floor is lightweight, easy to maneuver around our flat, and so easy to empty and clean the filter. We also bought the 'clean and tidy tool kit' a few months after we purchased the the Dyson cleaner, and it works a treat with our DC47! Good job Dyson!

Rated 1 out of 5 by TS06042013 DC47 is awful.
Bought new m/c from you on 08/04/13. It's not doing job it was meant to do and difficult to use. It is awful.
1. Tips over at slightest provocation.
2.Throat of floor head blocks constantly and has to be poked free. 3.Operating `handle` is just a pain, literally, can`t use it as it puts to much lateral pressure on the wrist and no I`m not a weakling
All in all we wish we hadn`t bought it.
By the way I have bought cleaners since 1965 and this has to be the most disappointing.

There's no doubt that the DC47 has good suction power, however, it can be frustrating to use. The tools need two hands to remove from extension pipe where-as if the connection was reversed this would be a one handed operation. The electric lead is too short by at least 1.5 meters. The waste collection bin is too small and requires a screwdriver, or similar to remove waste from around the cylinder and lastly it is a pain to use on vinyl where it lifts the floor.
