Rated 5 out of 5 by BIkram Excellent Product & Customer Service
I would like to take this opportunity to say how pleased I have been with the product I have (DC39 Animal Complete).
It is probably the only Vacuum that picks up everything including the finest of dust but also keeps me on my toes as I have to clean the filter regularly.
But more than this, I have to say Hats Off to you for the Excellent Skills and Values you have instilled in the Dyson Team.
Customer Service is if not the best then one of the best I have ever experienced. I had an issue with the handle, new one sent to me without any questions or proof of purchase required and free of charge. That's customer service.
A job well done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by D4783 Difficult to empty, I don't think so. I can't understand why anyone would want to empty their machine in the house, what would you expect but dust? That's what a vacuum cleaner is for, sucking up dust and when you empty it you are bound to come into contact with it. I read a lot of reviews before buying and decided to ignore the negative and I'm glad I did. Some people are just incapable of reading the instructions/ using the right tools for the right floor etc. I also have a short pile carpet and have experienced no issues when vacuuming. My old vacuum was well past it so the difference is unbelievable. Well made and does everything it says it will

Rated 3 out of 5 by Floscar Very good for stairs but disappointing on flat su
We moved into a new-build town house with lots of floors and lots of steps.
I bought a cylinder vac to make life easier on all the stairs.
It does work really well on stairs and is much easier.
However ............. when used on a large flat surface the suction is nowhere near as good as an upright.
I have ended up keeping my old Dyson upright which I nearly threw away, on the top floor to use on the bedroom floors.
Perhaps the carpets are still loosing a lot of fluff, but it seems to fill up and need emptying a lot.
In short, very good for stairs, but for the money I paid, I am very disappointed with the suction on flat carpets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by iwatch2 Good vacuum, bad everything else!
Great suction! What lets it down is the small bin, which is the worst I have ever come across for emptying - incredibly messy and fiddly. This machine is supposed to be the Animal version - I only have one dog, yet it struggles to vacuum downstairs before needing to clean the hair off the brush bar. One good improvement is the removable brush bar that lets you clean it without having to take the whole thing apart using screwdrivers - a too-regular necessity with older versions. Have given an average rating as the suction is excellent, and build quality hugely improved over the years, but fiddly, dirty and messy for the too-regular emptying required.

The handle is uncomfortable in use due to the angle. Better on older models.
Impractical to use handle in conjunction with the duster tool or any other add on tool as extremely uncomfortable. And to high to be able to get between shelves
On carpets the Ball steering works less efficiently than older models falls over a lot.
Prefer my old DC9
The mechanism and clip on the dust collector very thin plastic not sure how long this will last
Unlocking tools is a two handed job, old machines you could do with one more practical
Bad design sorry
Turbo brushes small and large excellent and picks up dust etc better than older models but not comfortable to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tommy Great machine, except...
This is a great machine, with an outstanding number of accessories included - but my only gripe is with storing the unit: my old Dyson would allow for the vacuum head/arm to be inserted upright into the main part of the machine - the DC39 however requires the arm to be inserted at rather an oblique angle, and it is NOT the easiest procedure at the best of times (very awkward and cumbersome, with repeated missed attempts before getting on ones knee to guide it in) - the existing slot needs an attachment designed to allow for a more accessible storage holder, so that the arm can slip in far easier & securely - otherwise, great machine!

Saw this vacuum on offer in a store, read the reviews,
My old upright dyson has served me well so decided to purchase the dc39.
It does as it says on the box, I found it more ( back friendly) as I have a bad back, easy to move around, good head attachments for different floor types.
I have 3 cats it's amazing how it picks everything up, the head for cleaning upholstery is excellent.
For use on the stairs it's so easy the small attachment head gets into all the corners.
Only thing is the place to put your spare tools which one reviewer mentioned, I popped them in a bag next to the dyson where it's stored so they don't get lost. Glad I bought the dc39...

Rated 5 out of 5 We used to have a generic vacuum cleaner purchased from a well known high street retailer. However, we were increasingly finding that it wasn't cutting it in our flat.
I purchased the DC39 Animal just on online reviews alone. I'd never used a Dyson so had no first hand experience of them.
The first time I used it it pulled so much dust out of the carpets that we'd cleaned weekly, I had to empty it before heading to the hard floor. Then, when changing the cleaning head, I noticed exactly how much of my girlfriend's hair had been missed in the passed - so much hair caught up, it was unreal!
Overall, a very good experience so far!
