Rated 5 out of 5 by Mcstu74 Impressive Suction
This blows all other handheld vacuum cleaners that I've used over the years out of the water - both on performance and ease of use. My car interior has never looked so clean. Even the sand stuck to the boot carpet pile came out with minimum effort using the 'boost' function.
The other one really big plus in my book is the weight and feel of the DC34. Some handhelds I've used are quite heavy and awkward. This just feels great to use.
The price for this cleaner may be a fair bit more than average, but you get what you pay for. My experience of Dyson vacuum cleaners over the past 10 years is that they will work well and last a long time.

I admit I had reservations about buying one of these but within minutes of trying it out I was won over. I had worried about whether the 15 minute battery life would be enough; however I hadn't factored the fact that you can just work in little bursts. This is something I know I am going to use a lot, and I'll probably keep cleaner house too, as getting out the big mains vacuum cleaner requires much more effort than grabbing this and getting to work. In use it has lots of suction and seems particularly good at getting dust out of corners. It also did a good job on the car too ... as I suddenly wanted to try it everywhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by millsy DC34 expensive but fairly cool
This handheld is quite expensive as are most Dyson products and the premium for design and brand is in general a deterrent for me. However this does seem to work better than other handhelds I have used. Suction is better but not earth shattering. They are all noisy if they work at all and Dyson is no exception but no worse than others in my opinion. Aspects of the design are very pleasing but this is matched to performance.
A particularly irritating omission in an expensive article like this is that the wall bracket does not come as standard. It is marketed as a rechargeable handheld vacuum and the absence of the wall bracket drops a star from the rating at least.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tweedy100 Dyson DC34
The Dyson DC34 is the best cordless vacuum cleaner that have bought to date ,it is very powerful and so handy to use. I use it for small jobs and also to clean the car interior, it is ok on the lower power setting and if I need to vacuum larger items I just switch to high power. As far as emptying the DC34 it is an absolute breeze just hold it over you kitchen bin and press the knob and that's all there is to it, cleaning the Dyson is also very easy which is another plus point. In the past I have used various makes but nothing comes anywhere near the DC34. People may say it's expensive but like anything else you get what you pay for and you also get the Dyson peace of mind backup.

With this new handheld replacing the previous model, the battery life has been extended significantly, the main critiscm of the original. However the original one was still working 100% after 9 years of use, my daughter has inherited it as my excuse for the replacement.
Performance of the 34 is excellent and I have yet to fully discharge the battery from full, even going around the whole house removing cobwebs and spot cleaning of all the carpets. The old one would just about last long enough to clean a 4 seat compact car, I think this new one would do a 52 seater coach. Overall very pleased.

We bought a DC34 to replace an older cleaner (a DC15?) which failed after several years heavy use. It's a much better cleaner, has more suction and works for longer. However, the lack of a wall bracket and charging cradle is a pain. There is instead a long cable which you plug in. So it gets tangled in everything else. The DC34 does not even fit into the old cradle for storage, being just a bit too fat. There is a risk of pulling the connector off the cable if you forget to unplug it from the DC34.
This is one case where a modest redesign to restore the lost functionality would be really useful. And it's the reason for the reduced rating. Did the designers and engineers get over-ruled by the accountants?

Terrific piece of kit, saves getting the DC07 out and lugging it up and down stairs. One niggle, the piece of plastic under the switch should be removed or modified on future models. I can't see the purpose of it and it creates a sore spot on my trigger finger even after a short time. Also I agree with another reviewer, the switch should have a lock facility similar to electric drills. I don't follow your point regarding saving power by not having this option. A press of the trigger releases the lock. Practicality should have precedence over design. Otherwise great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hol3 A good machine that really works well.
Having used hand held cleaners in the past I was sceptical about this one even though it was a Dyson and not cheap either. I have been pleasantly surprised by this machine. It is well built and designed and it really does work. It cleaned the car, my first test, with no problems and all on one charge too. The accessories are good and all useful and the battery charges quickly and lasts for a long time too. I would definitely recommend this cleaner. I now often use it rather than getting the upright cleaner out as it is so much more convenient to use and does a good job too.
