Campo Viejo is the flagship of Rioja wines. Ever since two local winemakers, Beristain and Ortiguela, created the first vintage in 1959, we have been synonymous with expressive wines, unique styles and innovation. Campo Viejo have a deep love and respect for our land and our winemaking heritage. We are passionate about taking the best Rioja winemaking traditions and bringing them into the twenty-first century. And committed to preserving the richness and beauty of our land for generations to come. Our state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly winery and sustainable winemaking practices attest to that.
Complex nose. It retains extraordinarily well the ripe fruit aromas of blackberries, blueberries, and black plums and figs. Gradually it opens up revealing smoky, toasted wood nuances, with spices such as clove and cinnamon, with some tobacco and minerality. This is another typical aspect of this wine which has evolved during its time in the barrel and the bottle. Elegant and complex on the palate, with ripe fruit notes of plums, figs, quince and species, tobacco, chocolate and coffee notes. Medium weight in the middle palate, with soft and velvety tannins. Good length, elegant and complex finish with hints of coffee and chocolate. Maroon, cherry red in colour with aromas of jam, wood and spicy tones Gran Reserva is a smooth wine with a lot of character.

    Spain
Campo Viejo is the flagship of Rioja wines. Ever since two local winemakers, Beristain and Ortiguela, created the first vintage in 1959, we have been synonymous with expressive wines, unique styles and innovation. Campo Viejo has a long and proud history that dates back to the Roman Empire. However, it has been over the past half century that our name has become synonymous with Rioja wines. From our first vintage, brewed in the former Ortiguela winery in 1959, to the creation of the famous 'Rioja Bottle' in '61 and the unveiling of our state-of-the-art sustainable winery in 2001, we have been at the forefront of Rioja winemaking.
A cherry red colour, suggestive of a vibrant Tempranillo wine. On the nose, it's rich aromas have a pronounced intensity with an initial scent of ripe red fruit followed by gentle sweet notes of vanilla and spices. On the palate it is perfumed, soft and fresh with a long finish that leaves memories of red fruit, vanilla and cocoa.

Dividing our vineyards into plots gives us the chance to select the grape assigned to this Reserva depending on the potential that it shows over successive stages. The result is a round, well-balanced and tasty wine. Ruby-red colour with a golden rim. Bright and deep. Complex aromas. There is a great balance between the fruit (cherries, black plums, ripe blackberries) and the clean nuances coming from the wood (clove, pepper, vanilla and coconut). The nose is further enriched by the aromas that develop during bottle ageing. Smooth and balanced on the palate with a full, elegant feel and a long, lingering finish.
