After years of traditional style irons I moved onto a Steam Generator type, I chose Bosch as I believed it would have longevity and quality. Unfortunately it lasted 5 months before tripping circuit breakers, not impressed.

Steam generator irons? An expensive solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. That’s what I thought until I actually tried this one. Before, ironing was a tedious chore. Now… well I won’t go as far as to say it’s enjoyable, but it’s certainly a big improvement.
So what’s it like ironing with the Bosch Sensixx B35L? Unlike a regular iron, which plugs directly in to the socket, this has a big base unit connected to the iron with a hose that carries steam under pressure. And because the steam is pressurised, it needs little more than a touch to smooth the creases on most fabrics.
When first turning on the Bosch Sensixx B35L, you hear it heating the water – a bit like a kettle. There is then a loudish buzzing for 10-15 seconds while the pressure builds. Once the light comes on, you’re ready to go. And ironing seems to take half the time.
The tank in the base holds enough water for all but a huge amount of ironing – I’ve never used it all in one go. If you do need a refill, it can easily be removed and replaced.
The instructions recommend tap water, which is fine; living an area with soft water, descaling isn’t an issue, and I’ve not needed to try the descaling routine.
Cons: The steam-generator base is BIG. Think of the size of the box for large pair of men’s shoes. It’s not a big drawback, but it does make it feel more of a faff to get the iron out even though it is worth the effort.

Submitted as part of a selected review panel. When my iron arrived i was little shocked at the size of it at first and initials thoughts was how am i going to store this and will it fit under the ironing board! I read through the instructions (the first for any iron i have purchased) which seemed straight forward and got ready to go. I was a bit weary about putting it on the end of the ironing board so plumped for a coffee table, which made thing easier, and the wire lengths are perfect and i didn't need to stretch and move about. The machine was easy to fill up with water turn on wait for the the light and off i went and wow was i surprised. Made light work of my husbands shirts and i was done in half the time i normally am. Fantastic machine can't wait for my next ironing day and i would recommend this to everyone.

I surprised myself by being quite excited and keen to get going when I received the Bosch Sensixx B35L steam generator iron as ironing is not top of my keen to do jobs. I was a little daunted on reading the instruction booklet but once I had unpacked the iron it was simplicity itself to set up and use.
The Sensixx B35L was easily and quite securely sat on the end on my ironing board and only took a minute or two to heat up to the required temperature before it was ready to go. First items to iron were polo shirts that were very dry and creased so I was keen to see just how well this steam iron would compare to my normal steam iron.... well they are not in the same class, the powerful shot of steam you get with the Sensixx B35L is very impressive and I can honestly say the creased tops were looking terrific in next to no time.
Another major plus point for the Sensixx B35L is the large water reservoir which allows a much longer steam ironing time and can be refilled without having to unplug the iron each time.
The Bosch Sensixx B35L certainly makes the job easier than my previous standard steam iron.

Submitted as part of a selected review panel. When I first saw it I was a bit shocked how complicated it looked and the unit was a lot bigger than my other iron. However I found the instructions easy and well written. This enabled me to use without any problems and not as complicated as 1st thought . The base unit is large and fairly heavy for my small ironing board but you could put onto the floor as the ironing cord was more than long enough for this. Also it comes with a detachable hot plate to stand your iron on your ironing board . Only thing I would suggest is to make the lip of the hot plate larger as the iron if not put on correctly can tend to slide off. It didn't take long for me to decide which settings were correct for my clothes but I found that the medium setting was more than enough to give a professional finish with very little effort on my most difficult cotton items. The iron glides across the fabric and it is very easy to manoeuvre, The large water tank at the front allows you to complete your average family wash without the need to top up so often. I have to say this steam generator made light work of all fabrics cutting down on time and effort. Thumbs up in my book!

Submitted as part of a selected review panel. This steam generator is fast and efficient. Ironing takes a quarter of the time of a standard steam iron. The major benefit for me is that the actual iron is light weight, as I have arthritis. My only little complaint is that it can be a bit noisy when heating the water, but that is why you can rewind TV. Since using this iron my clothes look like new and ironing bedding is easier too. Finally, another benifit in the winter is that it warms up the lounge so it heating can be turned down.
I haven't found a love in ironing but I love the steam generator.

We received the steam generator just under a month ago. Both my husband and myself have always hated ironing - finding it a complete chore and avoiding it as much as possible. The Steam Generator has been a revelation. It is incredibly easy to use and makes light work of the ironing. I have tested it out on a wide range of items, including jeans, shirts, heavy cotton bedlinen and more delicate items. It has been put through its paces on cotton and polycotton and it has impressed throughout.
The appliance itself is not as bulky as you would expect and sits comfortably on the metal plate of our ironing board, with no overhang, although I believe it is suitable for both standard irons and steam generators. It does however take up more storage room than a standard iron, and the temptation is to leave it set up on the ironing board. It is very easy to set up - you simply take it out of the packaging, place it on the ironing board and fill the removable water tank. It is very intuitive to use and heats up quickly. It has the usual 3 heat settings. It produces a good amount of steam without making the items wet. There has been no leaking of water from either the iron as it cools down, nor from the water tank etc. It is fairly noisy as it heats up but not uncomfortably so. I was initially surprised to notice how hot the cord running from the unit to the iron gets, but this is due to the fact that it is supplying the steam, rather than a standard iron which has the steam unit built into it. The iron itself is lightweight - but in a positive way. This is important for me as I have had carpal tunnel operations on both hands. It does not impact on the quality of the ironing, nor does it require repeated ironing over the same place. It has a power switch on the front of the base unit, making it easily accessible.
The instruction manual it came with was easy to follow.
I would not hesitate to recommend this item and would not revert back to a standard iron.
